Length of course:  2 hours

Objective:

In this course you will learn the basic components of the computer and how to get started in their use.

Major topics covered:

·         Major components of the computer

·         Turning on and using the computer

·         What is an icon and how to use

·         Using the mouse

·         Working with the tool bar and menus

·         Saving your work

 

Pre-requisites or equivalent knowledge required:

            None

Course Name:  Beginning E-Mail

Length of course:  2 hours

Objective:

In this course you will learn the basics of Email systems and how to use them.

Major topics covered:

·         What is email

·         Creating new emails

·         Forwarding and replying to received emails

·         Attaching files and pictures to emails

Pre-requisites or equivalent knowledge required:

  • Ability to use computer and mouse

 

Course Name:  Beginning Photoshop Elements

Length of course:  2 two-hour sessions

Objective:

In this course you will learn the basics required to produce a good picture using Photoshop. It will not help with other photo editing products

 

Major topics covered:

·         Getting started with Photoshop

·         Cropping and straightening pictures

·         Enhancing the picture through shadows and highlights, levels, saturation and contrast

·         Sharpening pictures

·         Using the spot healing brush, clone stamp, wand and paint bucket tools.

Course Name:  Intermediate Adobe Photoshop Elements

Length of course:  2 two-hour sessions

Objective:

This follow-on class to Beginners Adobe Photoshop Elements, will help you learn to use more sophisticated tools to further enhance your photos.It will not help you with other photo enhancement products.

 

Major topics covered:

·               Using the tools of Cookie Cutter, Marquee, Soft Spotlight and Text

·               Replacing a gray sky with an actual blue sky or cloud picture

·               Moving a person or object into another picture

·               Making collages

·               Taking and editing Panoramic pictures

Pre-requisites or equivalent knowledge required:

            Beginner Adobe Photoshop Elements or equivalent knowledge.

Objective:

 

In this course you will be introduced to basics of Microsoft Excel and by the end of the class you will design a database and/or a checkbook register – really!

 

Major topics covered:

·         The purpose of a Workbook and the Spreadsheets inside the Workbook

·         Using the Navigation and Design Tools of Excel

·         Creating Forms using Excel

·         Using Excel for a Database, Accounting, etc.

Course Name:  Excel - Intermediate

 Length of course:  2 Hours

 Objective:

In this short two hour course we will advance past basic navigation, data handling and simple formulas into advanced features such as gathering data from more than a single worksheet to use in a formula on another worksheet.  We’ll also create a chart or two, a table and a form and we’ll look at advanced layout options. 

 

 Major topics covered:

  •  Intermediate Data Handling

  • Intermediate Layout Options

  • Formula Discovery and Creation

  • Table Creation

  • Chart Creation

  • Macro Introduction

  • Securing Your Workbook

 

Pre-requisites or equivalent knowledge required:

  • A basic knowledge of Excel is required, such as navigation, entry of simple formulas, etc. 

  • Don’t be intimidated, but understand that we just won’t have time to explain what a cell is,

  • or how to navigate the worksheets and menus.  If you need assistance with that, look at our

  • Excel – An Introduction class first.

Objective:

In this course you will be introduced to Ebay and learn to Register and Safely Buy  items on Ebay, as well as determine the value of items you may want to sell.

Major topics covered:

·         Ebay navigation and searches.

·         Becoming a registered user.

·         Purchasing items safely on ebay and paying with PayPal

·         Using ebay as a research tool.

Length of course:  2 hours

Objective:

In this course you will be introduced to selling items on Ebay.  You’ll also learn how to place a value on your item(s), register as a seller and list your item(s) on Ebay.  We’ll also discuss how to handle payments through PayPal from purchasers and shipping strategies.  We will actually list an item or two and examine all available options.

Major topics covered:

·        Researching the true value of your item(s).

·        Becoming a registered seller.

·        Selling items safely on ebay

·      Working with PayPal

·      Using ebay as a research tool.

 

Pre-requisites or equivalent knowledge required:

  • Ability to use computer, mouse and Internet Explorer

 

 

Course Name:  Enhancing your Documents

Length of course:  2 hours

Objective:

In this course you will learn how to augment and improve a document through various Microsoft Word tools such as File, Insert, Edit and Format.

Major topics covered:

·         Changing margins and layouts

·         Printing in Columns

·         Inserting Page Section and Column Breaks

·         Changing style, size and color of fonts

·         Adding text to documents

·         Creating bullets and/or numbers

·         Inserting pictures

·         Using Paintbrush to reformat

  • Knowledge of how to create a simple document

·         Downloading slide shows to a CD or DVD to play on your TV

  • Beginning Adobe Elements Photoshop or equivalent knowledge.

 

 

Course Name:  Smart Phones and Tables - Android Operating System

Length of course:  2 hours

Objective:

This course will help you learn how to get the most use out of your Android device, whether it's a SmartPhone or Tablet

Major topics covered:

·         Using the Basic Device

·         Using the Android Market

·         Interfacing with your Laptop / Desktop / Google Account

·         Tablet Differences Between Android and Apple's iPad - not as much as you think.
